This is a full week of workshops where we employ various mixtures of clay, sand, and straw as well as other natural materials, to build walls, floors and even a wood-fired stove.  We will also create artistic design elements with color, and even waterproof our clay walls with different lime-based plasters.   All classes will take place in the mornings, with afternoons off.  We also anticipate a beach day to wash the mud off!

We will discuss:

~ how to test soil for clay content

~ratios and options for binding material

~the different recipes for cob, quinche, wattle & daub, and light straw clay

~the different mixtures for successive plaster layers
